Blue Jacket
Project Description
With 19 fermentation vessels and a production capacity of 5,000 barrels, Blue Jacket brewery and its associated restaurant and bar, the Arsenal, occupies 5,600 square feet of space spread throughout three levels of a historic building in D.C. The 200-seat restaurant and barroom, designed by GrizForm Design Architects in collaboration with Neighborhood Restaurant Group and Catherine Hailey, features high-ceilings, tall windows, and industrial accents. To complement the high-ceilings, the design team added a lengthy communal table and enormous pendant lights, which help to ground the space. The project team also designed tables enclosed in thin iron frames from which small light fixtures are suspended, to create an intimate vibe. Neighboring booths feature similar light fixtures that are projected over tables at low heights.
