Project Description

Following the success of their first collaboration, Chef Fabrizio Aielli called upon GrizForm Design Architects once more to design a new restaurant in Naples, Florida. The result is Barbatella, a casual Mediterranean eatery offering authentic dishes from the rustic regions of the Adriatic shores.

For the design, the project team drew on Chef Aielli’s Italian heritage and imagined the restaurant’s two separate buildings as reunited sisters who share the same Italian background, but have lived different lives. Together, the spaces charmingly illustrate two very different styles of Italian architecture. One takes a more, practical utilitarian approach, while the other is more decorative with 1,400 bright green plaster medallions canvassing the ceiling and walls.
